Getting Started

iBoysoft Mac Data Recovery is a professional data recovery software that can recover deleted files even emptied from Mac Trash, recover lost data from formatted, inaccessible, unmountable or corrupted partition, recover deleted or lost partition, etc.

Enable iBoysoft Mac Data Recovery to have full disk access

  1. Step 1: Go to Apple > System Preferences.. > Security & Privacy
  2. Step 2: Under Privacy tab, select Full Disk Access from the left column.
  3. Step 3: Click on the lock icon at the bottom. You will be asked to enter the password if there is.
  4. Step 4: Click + and add iBoysoft Data Recovery for Mac to this list.
  5. Step 5: Launch iBoysoft Data Recovery for Mac again.

How to activate iBoysoft Mac Data Recovery?

Step 1: Connect your computer to Internet. If you don't have Internet access, please contact [email protected]

Note: If you are running firewall or anti-virus programs on your computer, you may need to temporarily turn them off so as to complete registration.

Step 2: Click Activate button on iBoysoft Mac Data Recovery home window.

Step 3: Enter iBoysoft Mac Data Recovery license key (You are recommended to copy and paste the license key from order confirmation email).

How to set up scanning methods in Preferences?

You can set up the method to scan for lost data in Preferences panel. It supports: HFS Plus file system, FAT32 file system, exFAT file system, APFS file system and File types.

Scan lost data by file types: Reconstruct lost files according to file type signatures matching, but reconstructed files don't have their original file names and directory structures.

How to recover lost data from startup drive in macOS Catalina/Mojave/High Sierra?

'System Integrity Protection' (SIP) is a security mechanism built into the operating system thatprevents normal programs from reading the startup drive, so System Integrity Protection would prevent iBoysoft Mac Data Recovery from scanning startup drive in macOS Catalina/Mojave/High Sierra. To recover lost data from startup drive on Macs running such macOS, we need to temporarily disable System Integrity Protection (SIP).

Step 1: Boot to Recovery OS by restarting your machine and pressing & holding down Command + R keys at startup.

Step 2: Launch Terminal from the Utilities menu, enter the command: csrutil disable and press Return.

Step 3: Launch iBoysoft Mac Data Recovery from an external drive, choose the startup drive and click 'Next' to scan lost data.

Step 3: After deleted/lost APFS partition is found, please select it and then click 'Next' to scan the data.

Step 4: After the scan completes, preview all found files, choose the files we expect and click 'Recover' to get data back.

How to recover lost data from corrupted encrypted APFS partition?

Step 1: Click 'Find Lost APFS Partitions' at top right corner.

Step 2: Select the hard drive where you have corrupted encrypted APFS partition and click 'Next' to continue.

Step 3: After the encrypted APFS partition is found, please select it and then click 'Next' to enter the password for scanning the data.

Step 4: After the scan completes, preview all found files, choose the files we expect and click 'Recover' to get data back.

If the recovered files cannot be opened, please check 'Enable brute-force decryption' option and recover these files again.

How to recover lost data from uninitialized hard drive?

Step 1: Select the uninitialized hard drive and click 'Next' to scan lost data.

Step 2: After the scan completes, preview all found files, choose the files we expect and click 'Recover' to get data back.

Step 3: Check to ensure all lost files have been successfully recovered.

How to recover lost data from unbootable/crashed/failed Macs?

This tutorial is helpful when:

Method 2: Create a bootable drive and recover lost data

What you need:

a. a healthy Mac computer;
b. a USB flash drive.

Step 1: Create a bootable drive.

Download, install and launch iBoysoft Mac Data Recovery.

How to use Save Sessions and Load Sessions?

If you want to abandon the scanning process or exit the software during scanning, the software will ask you if you want to save the scanned results. By using Save Sessions, you can save the scanning results for later recovery.

Step 1: Click on the camera icon at the top right corner of the software.

Step 2: Choose a reliable location for saving the results.

The scanning results will be stored as a file named after the time you save it. If you want to recover the data in that file, follow the steps to load the results to the software by using Load Session option.
