Block allows you to reduce damage from melee and ranged combat, using a shield, a torch, a one-handed weapon, or a two-handed weapon. As perks are gained, Block allows you to do additional damage, disarm your opponent, and gain other benefits as below.

    it works for me i walk up to a torch on a wall and it gives me an option to activate it and i take it. you can also find them lying around.

    Kill some bandits near caves, then search the bodies. There is usually one or two that have them. I found a few in Bleak falls barrow on the bandits just inside the door

    Taking them from the walls works perfectly. In every dungeon I leave with tons of torches. I take them just to snuff the light out so I can sneak better without being detected. It works just fine, even after the patch.

    wrong that doesnt work anymore, hmmm im kinda at a loss myself ive been trying to find them too, closest ive come is a candle light spell.

    torches are on random vendors, they are also all over the world on walls/scones that you can simply walk up and pick them up off the wall. I recommend using a night vision spell such as the kajiit racial or enchanting a helm that you carry with you to put on when you need to see in the dark

    They should be removable from any sconce in a dungeon or cave. I got PLEANTY of them! Approach the torch on the wall, and it should be able to be 'activated', thereby taking the torch! Hope that helps!

    NOTE REGARDING WALL SCONCES (Bracket holding torch)

    There are a few types.. Ive noticed some are FIXED and others you can take. even now.. i just did it on my 360 like 20 mins ago.
    the one's you can take are often pointing away from the wall and look as though they slot into a single arm bracket.. the dual arm bracket sconces don't give me the option to take - i hope this alleviates some problematus

    you can remove them from most walls but why use a torch when you could just use a candle light spell?

    Go to DRAGONREACH head to dungeons unlock the doors to get through it to the escape route and plthe torches off of it as you walk along the corridors it yeilds 10 torches each run and the instantly refresh everytime you go through it

    I think they last for about 5-6 minutes but I think I've only used them once. What is the atk dmg dnd 5e guide. They game has a pretty decent amount of lighting.

    Easiest place to get torches is right off the walls of the dungeons you're in. Anytime you see a torch light on the wall you can take it.

    I haven't seen a torch run out during my adventuring. Also look for them on some wall sconces.. they are more plentiful than you'd think. Also, I believe you can purchase Candlelight (a spell with similar illuminating effects) from the Riverwood Trader, in Riverwood.

    I found a way around this problem that isn't cheating, and doesn't cost you a penny. So far I have come to any place I have to use a torch or spell on with it. Go into your settings and turn the brightness all the way up!

    remember all you light bearers that using torches and candlelight spells make you noticeable when you may not wish to be noticed. Best form of light is to find a night vision type spell similar to the kajiit's racial. This allows you to see very well in the dark without telling everything around you that your there.

    Haha - try this out light your torch and jump in the water - I've never had a torch go out even after taking a dunk!

    Try mage light and shoot your horse or your follower or an enemy for that matter - its like a headlight either lighting your way or telling you where to shoot that fireball.

    You can unequip it, then reequip it. Doing this restarts the timer on a torch.
    You can also give your companion a torch, they never go out then.

    torches do take several minutes to burn out, though they are stackable and weigh 0.5 so you can carry a few.. plus you can put them away. candlelight lingers for 60 seconds from time of casting

    I drop torches, leave the cell, and re-enter. The torches stay lit forever that way. I use them to light my homes and have never had them go out.
