Hunters

Physical Damage Reduction. Other information DPS. The general rule of thumb on how base statistics affect DPS capability is as follows: Strength will always contribute to the physical melee DPS for all classes. Rogues and Hunters can also use Agility in addition to Strength to. Hunters do not cast harmful spells, but they do cast harmful physical attacks which can cause spell damage. Enemy players that have resistances to spell damage, such as Mages and Druids, can mitigate damage done to them by harmful spell damage attacks such as Explosive Shot, Chimera Shot and Arcane Shot, for example.

Bleeds are damage over timedebuffs that deal physical damage. As a physical debuff, bleeds generally cannot be removed until the debuff expires, although there are a few means of doing so. In addition, bleed effects cannot be resisted and ignore armor. Warriors, rogues, druids and marksmanship hunters all have access to bleed debuffs. There are also melee weapons that give a chance to apply bleed effect on targets.

Removal

Bleed effects can only be removed through a few means.

  • The dwarven racial ability[Stoneform] removes bleeding effects.
  • The quest reward trinket [Luffa] stops bleed effects, but will not remove effects added by enemies over level 60.
  • Though not directly labeled as such, the paladin abilities [Divine Shield] and [Hand of Protection] and the mage ability [Ice Block] remove bleed effects (as well as all debuffs in general in the cases of Divine Shield and Ice Block).

True Damage is any Damage that is not modified by a Monster's Body Part Multipliers. Sources include Gunlance shells, Bowgun Sticky Ammo, and Bomb Items such as the Barrel Bomb.
Parts Damage is dealt whenever a breakable part of a Monster's body receives Damage, and contributes towards breaking that individual part. It is not represented by an onscreen number. Breaking a Monster's body parts raises their Body Part Multipliers against damage, saps the Monster's Stamina, and may limit the attacks that it can do. Parts Damage can be modified with the Partbreaker Skill.

See Weapon Mechanics for an overview of all the factors that go into damage calculation.

Raw Damage

Attack Power, also known as 'Raw' is the physical damage of a weapon. This is further subdivided into three types, against which Monster Body Parts have varying resistances.

Cut Damage

Sword slashes, lance thrusts, etc: Can be used to cut the tails off certain monsters.

Blunt Damage

Elemental Damage

Do Hunters Dmg Count As Physical Test

If a Weapon wields Elemental Damage, it will often appear as one of five types against which Monster Body Parts have varying resistances. Some Weapons wield more than one type.

Status Effect Damage

If a Weapon wields Status Effect Damage instead of Elemental Damage, its attacks have a 1 in 3 chance to cause buildup towards a special Ailment. In this way, Status Effect Damage does not directly add extra damage to a Weapon's attacks, but is still useful if played against a Monster's weaknesses.
