Classic Wow Spell Dmg Gear Vs Normal Gear Mage
Hello there. Information of this seems sparse. I'm looking at fine details, not just matter-of-fact.
I'm wondering how damage/healing items work.
Specifically:
What does this do: [up to 40 damage / healing] ?
What does this do: [+40 damage]?
What does this do: [+40 healing]?
I believe these are based on cast times for the maximum effect .. but 'up to X damage'? does that mean 1dX RNG? Up to 40 damage is 1d40 damage? AVG~20?
Cast time matters. An instant cast, as a wand, cannot expect those rewards. But what about wands with +damage or +healing? Healing wands are very sought after.
Is there a difference between [up to] damage vs +damage . or [up to] healing vs direct +healing
Anyways, an explanation of +damage +healing items would be appreciated. It's probably simple, yet elusive to me. Thanks!

Aug 23, 2019 In general you should be looking to have Spell Power on almost every piece of gear. Spell Crit Chance. Normally spells will critically hit for 150% of their normal damage. With the Ruin Destruction talent. In WoW Classic, bosses have varying amounts of resistances depending on the type of boss you are fighting. Having said this I strongly believe +dmg is the way to go for an effective mage. I have just recent got this ring which puts my dps gear at (up to) +405 spell dmg. I am a frost farming build and my Frost bolt usually does 820-880 dmg. My highest crit with FB is 2332 according to Recap. With over 1k with CoE. Gta 3 mac dmg free. Bought it from a very awesome person for 600g(on this server, that's a good price).
